c44077
Does anyone know if and when a Cider will come out? Thanx :-)
Oliver
... but if they do could it possibly be better than Black Rock Cider? I make it with a can of Black Rock cider, 1kg glucose, 125g of lactose (otherwise it's way too dry) and three granny smith apples peeled and cored and put into a stocking and dropped into the fermenter (for extra apply flavour). Absolutely superb. Wife loves it. She's strictly a Strongbow girl (in fact, she used to be a Strongbow Chick. Literally) and she reckons the Black Rock is better. Oliver
Hi Dor, Most homebrew shops should have it. It comes in a light green tin (maybe that will help you spot it in the homebrew shop!). Yes, it tastes pretty much the same as Strongbow, but better, I reckon. The one thing I forgot to mention in the recipe above is that you only fill the fermenter to 18 litres, so you get a more concentrated flavour and more body. Perth's a great place. My wife's from there (maybe you saw her selling Strongbow Cider in her younger days!).
PB2
Home Brew Cider is something that we considered when we were developing the Ginger Beer. However, at this stage it is not a viable option.
kieran
coopers should get together with a winery (Hugh Hamilton perhaps?) and put out a Black Sheep home brew wine kit.. now that would be cool!! :)

Oliver
About four years ago, Cooper's did do a wine kit. There was chardonnay and shiraz. They weren't a bad drop, either. They were only on the market for 18 months or so, from memory. Not sure why they were discontinued.
PB2
The wine kits were originally only meant for the Canadian market. After some interest was shown by the Australian Market we released them here for sale in home brew specialist stores only. However, we discontinued them because they moved too slowly. They certainly made a "nice drop" but the cost (around $100) was the prohibitive factor! We don't plan to do wine kits in the future.
kieran
awww c'mon paul. Got any sitting around the traps that you can flog off to us interested punters? I feel like having a go.. ;) kieran
PB2
The grape concentrate oxidises over time. If I did have some stashed away (and I don't), it would not be in a fit state to even contemplate fermentation.
kieran
is the rest of the kit similar to a beer kit?
PB2
I could tell you all about it but we don't sell it anymore. It is fermented like beer...
Oliver
A quick Google search turned up this old promotional poster on the Cooper's website. http://www.coopers.com.au/files/Wine%20Kit%20A2%20print.pdf (You can also view it by navigating on the Cooper's website to Funstuff > Posters > Wine Kit Advert) The blurb on the ad is the same as on this old page on the Cooper's website, which doesn't appear to be linked to from the main page any more. (God, how I love Google  ). http://www.coopers.com.au/hbrew-wine.asp
The Brew Master
Hi Everybody, I made a cider (Brigalow) and substituted 2 litres of water with 2 liters of unsweetened apple juice, my wife said it was fantastic. Me, I prefer beer. Regards Peter "Don't waste time keep drinking"
Wort
I could tell you all about it but we don't sell it anymore. It is fermented like beer... And we wouldn't want to talk about anthying that Coopers didn't sell cause that would be a waste of time :!: :?: :?
PB2
Tristan, message board participants are welcome to talk about the old wine kits. You just won't get a lot from me on this subject.
kieran
.. except most of us dont really know anything about it because it was sold to the canadian market only, and it appears that the only people that do know anything work for the company. catch22.
