guest1525228310 Posted January 19, 2013 Share Posted January 19, 2013 They are worthwhile in my opinion. Affected by alcohol level and best for using on unfermented wort. No more accurate than hydrometer probably less if not used correctly and reading not adjusted for alcohol content. Great for taking quick readings on brewday. You only need a few drops of liquid instead of enough to float your hydrometer and the small quantity on the glass stabilises to reading temperature in about 30 secs from boiling. I never trust mine for FG reading but you could if you had a fetish about only using a refractometer. I only use mine on brew day then use my hydrometer.
