DavidH45
Im making a ginger beer, just from the kit. Recipe says start SG testing after 6 days but only after 5 days did some bubbles start forming and some condensation started gathering, it has now been in for 10 days and the froth is still increasing. Is this a case of the yeast taking a few days to get started and is there anything I need to do? Or just wait? .... Had it at steady 22 degrees and just did first SG... gone from 1038 to 1020. Thanks. David.
AdamH1525226084
Sounds like a slow starting one. What were the ingredients you used? The kit recipe? I did one as the 2nd brew i made and it went pretty much straight away i think. I didn't like it - could taste the artificial sweetener which makes me feel sick [sick]
Otto Von Blotto
I had this happen too, apparently it just takes longer for raw sugar to ferment. I think it started around 1036 or 1038, after 7 days it was at 1018, it finished around 1004-1005 after two weeks. Which you'd expect given ginger beers are generally thinner than normal beer. I would just wait, it will get there.[biggrin]
