Debating

Recommended Posts

I have recently made 2 great brews with dark brown sugar one stout and one dark ale using 500 grams the results have been great but I bought a can of cascade chocolate mahogany porter and am wondering if dark brown sugar will go nice with that too I also have some fuggles hops on hand which I will be making a hop tea with. What would be the best amount of time to boil the hops to get the most out of them they are in pellet form cheers and beers

Porters tend to sit somewhere between dark ales and stouts, so if you liked the brown sugar in those then you will probably like it in a porter. I've never used dark brown sugar so I can't comment from personal experience.

As for hops, what do you want to achieve? Do you want a full-on hoppy flavoured beer or a more subtle beer?

And as for the title of the post, you put that on there and everyone joins in. And pretty soon it becomes Mass Debating [biggrin]

An oldie but still a goodie [innocent]

I would go with a 20 minute and a 5 minute addition of hops.

Personally I wouldn't bother dry hopping a porter but there's no reason you can't.

If you want that extra aroma then add a dry hop addition too.
