Hairy
What was your recipe and has it changed from what you were doing previously? I assume you are comparing the current IPA with previous IPA attempts and not other styles of beer.
johno6
still using coopers recipie and method, only thing that changed was the addition of a jacket to fermenter when the weather got cooler!
Hairy
Sorry, I can't really help you there. If your recipe and ingredients are the same then the only major variable would be fermentation. You mentioned brewing in both warmer & cooler periods; were your brewing temps fairly similar? Each fermentation has its own individuality and will be different but I wouldn't think it would have that much effect on perceptible differences in bitternness. Guest
IPA's are traditionally quite hoppy/bitter... I'fn you dont like bitter/hoppy beers, my suggestion, is to up the malt in it to bring down the perceived bitterness or to brew a more subtle style. me? Id be adding more hops to it anyway... [roll] But i am MAD for hops and there isnt a brew i make that didnt end up with 50 to 100g of extra hops in it, havnt done the IPA kit though..
