DavidP30
With the high AA% you'd think people would be tempted to use this a lot as a bittering hop but most recipes I've seen, or maybe even all of them use other hop varieties for bittering. Is there a compelling reason to not use galaxy as a bittering hop?
Hairy
I've used Galaxy plenty of times but never as a bittering hop. I was contemplating it so I did a bit of research and the reviews were mixed. Some thought it was great and others thought that it led to a harsh and less smooth bitterness. The only way to find out personally is to give it a go. I guess in the end it all comes down to your personal taste.
Guest
There is no reason why you couldn't use Galaxy. In fact it would make a great bittering hop because of the high AA% and there are plenty of recipes around that do.
Kearnage
I've used it as a bittering hop, made a great beer. Perhaps people don't use it for bittering so much because they think it is a shame to waste that amazing aroma? [biggrin]
