AndrewF111
I bought a bag of goldings hop pellets as it was on special. Never used this hop variety before. I have read this hop is used for English Ales, does this mean anything? is it not a good idea to use in a larger? Ive been experimenting with hops using both coopers pale ale and larger kits so ive been getting familiar with the differences. Cheers
Hairy
Yes it is generally used for English Ales but you can use it for just about anything. You can use it in a lager but will give you a different flavour to what you are used to in lagers. The only way to find out is to give it a go. BTW it is a very nice hop [love]
Guest
Goldings are a UK hop and if brewing to style are used in UK Ales. You can put hops in anything as it is your brew and you can do what you like with it. Lagers are generally very low on hop additions but this doesn't mean you can't do it. What can are you planning to use them with?
AndrewF111
I have a coopers larger with the brew enhancer 1. I usually use the larger and pale ale kits, and buy them from coles as they are cheaper. I pass them off in the shopping budget, and I buy the rest of the brewing stuff from my LHBS with my cash. Hairy
Give the Goldings a go. If you are using the yeast that comes with the Coopers Lager then you are making an ale anyway.
Guest
I personally think the Pale is better than the Lager. Each to their own though. As Hairy said, give the Gioldings a go. You'll be surprised how much difference it will make. (for the better)
