ShakeyD
When I bottle my brew how low can I go in the fermenter? I've been tipping it up to get the last 5 or so litres but if I go to low will it produce a bad bottle?
ShakeyD
Just bottled my first batch, very happy with the smell and taste. Got it in the original DIY Beer box with a sleeping bag at the bottom and top all snug, and at the bottom of the laundry cupboard. Hopefully the temp will be ok. Temps for the next week in melb low 20's. Can it get to warm for it or does it just need to be over 18 C.
Hairy
Shakey, just try to get as much out as you can without disturbing the trub too much. You don't want to waste too much beer. Conditioning them at 18-20 degrees is perfect. If the temp creeps up a bit it won't matter. Temperature control is really important during primary fermentation, especially the initial stages. The very small amount of fermentation happening during secondary shouldn't throw off any funky flavours. But then again, you don't want your beer sitting in 40-50 degree heat either.
