Newbie Hydrometer question.

Hi Guys.

 

First time poster on here.

 

This may seem like a stupid question, but I would rather ask stupid questions than make stupid mistakes with my brews.

 

People talk about taking readings with their Hydrometers daily. When taking the sample is that beer wasted or returned to the fermenter?

HI chris, welcome to the forum.

 

I only take OG reading then my next one at around day 7. The 1st draw (100ml or so) I drink as it will have alot of sediment in it, some people throw it away. After I get my reading I also drink that sample, this gives you an idea on how your brew will turn out.

Yep, I drink it (or at least taste it to see how the beer is going).

But don't do it every day, just at the start OG reading then around day 6 or 7, when 2 readings are the same then bottle. But it is best to leave it fo a couple of more days after these 2 readings.
