Deano1525228127
Ive been brewing for two years now and once I have mixed my brew I leave it till its ready to bottle, but the other day an old bloke told me to give my brew a stir or mix it up again half way through. Is this true or is this old bloke mad?
Matty A
I don't see any real benefit to this. I would just let it sit although I don't see it doing any harm if you shake it around. I think if you where to use a spoon to stir you are just increasing the risk of infection.
johng12
Hello Deano, I second Mattys's opinion id be reluctant to open the lid once i've started brewing. Thats habit by now, if you have mixed all the ingredients at the outset no reason to do it again.
Muddy Waters
I only reluctantly stir my brew during fermentation if the yeast poops out early [pinched]
PB2
[rightful] Stirring will rouse the yeast and introduce a little oxygen to the brew (not a good idea normally) - only needed if the yeast is struggling to ferment the brew to expected gravity as per Muddy's comment.[rightful]
