hi ron,

DONT GO TIPPING IT OUT!!

forget the airlock its crap!!

first of all 600grams of brewing sugar is fine...it wont affect/ stop it from fermenting.

what do you mean nothing is happening mate?

ok....paul will reply n help ya I reckon if ya can answer these.......

is there any condensation on lid of fermenter?

is there any gunk...AKA krausen around rim of the liquid in fermenter?

if there is the beer is fermenting!!!!!!!!

i assume your using an ale yeast(or yeast supplied which half ale n half lager).......if so and brew is above 16 ..preferably 18 it is ok!!!!

if the above is ok mate...no need to read on.....

what temp did you pitch the yeast?

what temp is the brew now?

did temp go below 16 at any time?

did you use yeast supplied with kit?

and what is use by date on can?

......................finally dude, did you use your hydrometer?

if you did...what was original reading n what is reading now?

has it gone down?.......if it has and the brew is above 18 the wurt is fermenting.

cheers mate

matt

p.s. sorry for the long "know all" reply,,,, i just dont wanna read that ya tipped it out or sumpin! :D i hate wasting beer!

I droped my hydro to! just get another from a home brew shop! thats what i did! then take a reading and post it, Paul or matt will tell ya if that sounds about right for ya 600g of brewing sugar you put in! then you know if everything worked out ok! then its just the taste and smell test left to do! :D

Ron, if you haven't got a hydro you need to have a close look at the brew and look for other indicators of fermentation.

Tick off these points:

1. Condensation on the inside of the lid yes/no

2. Sediment build up at the base of the fermenting tub yes/no

3. Take the lid off for a moment and have a look at the fermenting tub wall just above the brew level. Scum ring (may be quite subtle) yes/no

4. Describe what the brew looks like.

5. Draw off a sample into a glass - describe its appearance. Have a taste any initial sweetness?

You can always ring the home brew helpline 1300 654 455

Well Paul @ Matt thank you for your help.

I didnt check the use by date on the can.

The yeast is stored with the can at room temp untill used.

There is no condensation on the inside of lid.

There is sediment at the base of fermenter.

There is a scum ring above the brew.

The brew looks cloudy in the hydro tube but in a glass it is reasonably

clear,with a sg reading of 1010.

It doesnt taste too bad there is no real sweatness too it.

When I took the lid off there was a real sour smell but as I said

it tasted alright.

Hope this helps

Cheers
