Sticky Wicket
I will be putting down Coopers IPA & Coopers APA in one brew this afternoon to make 23 liters using Coopers Sparkling Ale commercial yeist started with 250 grams of Light dry malt in one liter of water. Has anyone tried this, what do you think of the mix?
Muddy Waters
I reckon that will be way too bitter Sticky. 2 APA cans together to 25L make a good base but I'm not so sure of and APA with an IPA. I look forward to hearing how it turns out though.
Sticky Wicket
Thanks Muddy, what would you suggest as an alternative to adding the APA, I want to use the IPA today and don't want to go all the way to my home brew shop. I do have a box of Brew Enhancer 2?
Muddy Waters
Mate I know you don't want to hear this but I'd wait until you can get some more supplies. 1kg of LDM would be the perfect addition...dry hopped with a decent whack of Motueka would be even better [love] I'm not a fan of brew enhancers so I can't recommend that. Sticky Wicket
I can get a kilo of LDM from the supermarket, so will take your advice. Would it be ok to add the additional hops a few days after pitching the brew?
*****
Would it be ok to add the additional hops a few days after pitching the brew? Yes As Muddy said the IPA has a nice level of bitterness, hop additions here are for taste and aroma. For aroma a lot of people add their hops after the Krausen has subsided. PB2 and BillK use a clean chux straight from the pack, I use a sanitised (boiled for 10 mins) hop bag.
