Timbo
I brewed with some mates a few years ago and have just restarted brewing again. I have a couple of old kits that are between 2 and 5 years past their Best Before date. Is it just the yeast that may be "past it"? or is the whole kit no good? I was hoping that I could just by some replacement yeast from a home brew shop and still get good value from the kit.
Luke
Only one way to find out! :D My old man made one that was a year past it's use by (with a new yeast) and all was well.
PB2
Timbo, have a look at a post called "Use by Date".
Timbo
Thanks Luke and Paul. Sounds like I should purchase a couple of sachets of fresh yeast and give the old tins a try. I'll report back in a few weeks time and let you know how it goes.
