Hoppy Sparkling Ale

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm new to brewing & on my 3rd batch.

My current brew is a Thomas Coopers selection Sparkling Ale can kit & i added some pride of ringwood hops at the end (i wanted a good strong brew- the homebrew shop bloke suggested this). Anyway, it has stopped fermenting 3 days ago & i can't bottle for another 3 days- will it be ok? will the hop bag inside keep increasing bitterness or taste? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Brock!

It should be fine to leave it a while before bottling. In fact it will help clear the beer and allow the yeast etc to settle.

I leave mine an extra week after reaching FG.

Leaving the hop bag in will also be fine. It won't extract any bitterness at all.

Good luck Brock.

I forgot to mention that you need to boil the hops to extract bitterness; usually for 30 min to 60 min.

Dry hopping won't extract any bitterness.

Yep. Dry Hopping for Aroma, Boiling for bitterness, adding when you take it off the boil for flavour IIRC.
