BIG BARREL LAGER

Seasons greetings all

over a few cold ones last night with my elderly father ( he is 81 )he reminded me of COOPERS BIG BARREL LAGER that he used to drink 30-35 years ago.Could anyone hazard a guess as to if big barrel had a name change to coopers lager or if it was a different brew altogether and a stab in the dark to its make-up?

I suspect this may have been before PB2's time at coopers - any comments would be great[roll]

Do you want to make a lager similar to Big Barrel??

 

As far as I recall from reading "Jolly Good Ale and Old", which is at work at the mo', Big Barrel was the next lager after Gold Crown (our very first).

Never tasted Big Barrel, or seen tasting notes/recipe but I would expect the current Premium Lager to be very different.

would be great to re-create something thats not been on the market for a long time. Any chance the recipe is gathering dust in the Coopers archives?

would be very interested to see your suggestion for the style of beer but most important please enjoy your time off ( as i am ). By the way thanks for the heads up about the series BREW MASTERS have enjoyed - looking forward to esp 4 and 5.
