Wayne (Captain Yobbo)
Getting back into brewing is good fun missed it but mates are screaming for beer and my stockpile is almost gone however I was at a friends place the other night and they have given me an old school Coopers FV in good nick so now I can double my production of beer and also begin to bulk prime anyhow Cheers

Guest
Hiya Wayne. I just snuck a peak at your "Birthday Ale" recipe. Did you brew that to 23 litres? If so Wooo Hooo 7.2% ABV! Musta been some birthday! [biggrin] Beer.
Wayne (Captain Yobbo)
I made 24 litres however for some reason it got infected prior to bottling I am thinking it might of been the honey not sure hasn't happened since I will be making it again but for new years [biggrin] I also slightly upped the does of star san a little as I am very clean and sanitize like crazy was dissapointed
Guest
I also slightly upped the does of star san a little as I am very clean and sanitize like crazy was dissapointed Assuming you mean that you made a stronger dose of Starsan... Correct me if I am wrong but I just wanted to put it out there that by making a stronger dose actually makes it not perform as well and I believe it is not recommended to do and still use as a no rinse sanitiser. Wayne (Captain Yobbo)
I use 1.5ml per litre I use a 4 litre bottle of water so I use 6ml apparently 1.5ml is the prescribed rate converted into metric however all I did was add an extra .5 so the total was 6.5ml all up not sure if my measuring medicine cap thingy is correct by all mean correct me if I am dosing it wrong
Guest
1.5 ml per litre is the right dosage and I wouldn't think an extra 1/2 ml in 4 litres would hurt. However, I am not an expert on it but would guess that should be ok. [alien] I use a syringe available from the chemist. A lot easier than measuring in med cups imo. Wayne (Captain Yobbo)
I might go into the chemist and get a syringe that way i know its 100% accurate Cheers for the advice Bill
Guest
Apart from measuring Starsan, Syringes have a few good uses in my brewery. eg. help clean my taps, can put a head on a stout if need be, shoot the kids with water when they get too close to the hot urn/kettle.
