Recipe of the month (and most kits) state .....Store the bottles out of direct sunlight at 18\xb0C or above for at least 1 week while secondary fermentation occurs. Your beer can be consumed after 2 weeks.

How long should be the recommended wait before the guzzling can commence??

Some beers are ready to quaff sooner then others. A Mild ale, or a Draught style ale can be consumed early (1 month). A pale ale should be given a little more time (1-3 months). A lager should wait (4-6 months). A porter or stout (6-12 months). Barely Wine (1 year+).

Patience, my friend.[wink]

I usually taste one after a couple of weeks, its really up to your tastes. When I bottle I use 750ml Bottles, but also bottle several stubbies so I can test the beer without opening a whole longneck. most beers will improve over time, but ultimately its up to your taste!
