AdamS12
Hi, I have my second brew a draught kit in the fv has been in there for 11 days. I sanitised my fv with Coopers sanitiser i then used the sanitiser from the fv for my PET Bottles from the first batch. I emptied the bottles but didnt rinse them. Will the bottles be alright if i rinse them before bottling? Thanks Adam
AdamH1525226084
Hi Adam. Good name [biggrin] See here about "Sodium Percarbonate" which is what the Coopers sanitiser is. Dissolved in water, it yields a mixture of hydrogen peroxide (which eventually decomposes to water and oxygen) and sodium carbonate ("soda ash"). It should be fine if you give them a rinse out [lol]

Guest
How long is eventually? 2 weeks? 6 months? Sodium perc is a great cleaner and I have vast quantities of it, but I never use it as a sanitiser, as is widely known round the traps, I'm an avid supporter of specialised NO RINSE sanitisers like starsan and iodophor. Personally, I always clean with sodium perc, and then rinse with starsan and know (and trust) they are sanitised You just can't beat no rinse sanitisers, invest in some of this type of stuff and brew/bottle with confidence Yob

Guest
Napisan to clean (Sodium Percarbonate) and Starsan to sanitise. If you rinse your bottles then expect to have whatever is in your water in your bottles too. It should be ok most of the time. However, you won't be happy the times that it is not. No rinse Sanitisers cost stuff all which amazes me why people don't use them.
