BillF
Hello brewers, I put a brew on the other day and had a light on just to get it up to temp to start working. Well I forgot to turn the light of and then we had a hot day. went to check on brew and realised what I had done. Brew worked fine on day one but when I checked on day two the temp was up to 30 C. Guessing the yeast has died. Can I just add another yeast sachet and start again once temp is back in brewing temp range ??? Thanks, Bill the Backyard Brewer from Blakiston. Hairy
Welcome to the Forum BillF. What yeast were you using? Was it the kit yeast from a Coopers kit? If so, that yeast is quite hardy and may have survived those temps. Keep checking your SG to make sure it is coming down. At that temp it won't take long to ferment out; it might not taste very nice though.
Guest
Welcome to the forum Bill. Gee there are a few Bill's registered here now [cool] No need to pitch another yeast this is enough and will be drinkable albeit not the best. Nevertheless, don't be put off by this brew and if you can keep your temps around 18-20C for ales would give you a better beer.
