Canadian Eh!L
Hey Gang, I have an Irish Ale as per "How to Brew" in the FV right now. I was wondering if anyone who has made this brew before liked it as is? Has anyone tried dry hopping it with success?
Hairy
I haven't tried making this, but I will add my 2 cents anyway. [biggrin] Usually Irish Red Ales have very little, if any, hop aroma. You could try a milder hop like East Kent Goldings. It can't hurt anyway.
Canadian Eh!L
Hi Hairy, You are right. No dry hops. I don't think its an Irish ale but this one smells alot like Boddington's Honey ale. I hope it turn out like it. Boddinton's is a favourite of my. I am thinking the bottle carbonation should be quite low? What do you think?
Hairy
I have just read that the carbonation for Irish Red Ales is 2 to 2.5 volume. So that would be the same as an American Pale Ale, for example. Maybe you could do some with low carbbonation as well for comparison.
