gadjitsteve
Ok folks. The last brew was a simple coopers lager 1.7kg 1 kg of dex .5kg of LDM kit yeast at 24C brought down to 18C and she's gone from 1052 OG to 1014 FG over 9 days. A little early to bottle tomorrow maybe but im running out of my first pale ale batch, quick!! So tomorrow ill bottle and start the next one. Coopers pale ale kit 1.7kg 1kg dex .5kg LDM Coopers commercial yeast ive got ready and 25g of cascade and 25g of galaxy. What do I do with the hops? 15-20mins of cascade then dry hop the galaxy after 3-4 days? Can you combine hops in a boil and do I boil them in straight water or add the 500gram of LDM as well? Now i've got too wait two weeks for the lager brew [crying] Cheers Steve
Hairy
Steve, what you have planned sounds ok. A short boil of the cascade and dry hop the galaxy. You could probably add 10g of galaxy to the boil and dry hop 15g. So to answer your question, yes you can combine hops in the boil. You can get some magnificant flavours doing this. It is best to add some malt to the boil. The usual formula is 100g per litre of water.
Damien E1
Sounds good, though I'd change the malt and dextrose around, 1kg of malt and .5kg of dextrose.
gadjitsteve
Cool, thanks guys. The first pale ale I did was 1kg LDM and a hop tablet thingy from big W. This is what has made me realise the power of hops, that and this forum [devil] Im definately a malt and body fan. Ill let you know how it goes, cheers Steve
