Guest Posted July 20, 2012 Share Posted July 20, 2012 I have only used them for Dry Hopping so far Muddy. I don't really have big issues in a boil. However, if doing a stove top boil for your additions then I could see they would help reduce the crap at the end. I haven't done a stove top for sometime so usually just chuck hops in the urn naked. I do recommend not going over 20g in the balls though, even a little less maybe better again. Otherwise they just swell too much. To sterilise them I just throw 2 or 3 in the jug and boil the jug. Let them sit in there for 5 minutes then boil the jug again. Take them out and give them a squirt of starsan.
