DME Amber strong flavor?

Exactly how would you describe this flavor? I'm curious,because I used 3lbs (about 1.4kg) of Munton's plain amber DME with a can of cooper's dark ale that I'm making into what has been called "whiskely" over here since colonial times.

By the way,what hops were used? That might be influencing the flavor of the brew when combined with the amber malt.
