Guest
I was very lucky to recently score a cube of Czech Pilsner AG for only $30 the other day and was hoping someone here maybe able to advise the best thing to do with it. I have a packet of SU05 yeast but isn't a Pilsner a Lager?... would it be ok to pitch this yeast and brew at ~18C or should I use something else to get the best I can from it? Trusty1
I would use a lager yeast and brew at appropriate temp, 10-14 would do. should take 2 weeks or so.
PB2
Might be worth getting a pack of W-34/70 or S-189.
Guest
Thanks guys. I will check the LHBS for W-34/70 or S-189 and hit it at ~12C. I'm looking forward to trying this [love] Once it has finished should I lager it for a couple of weeks at as close to ~0C as I can get or should I just keg and be ready to go? PB2
Start it in the low 20s for the first 12hrs - this help yeast growth..
Guest
Start it in the low 20s for the first 12hrs - this help yeast growth.. Thanks Paul, that makes sense. I'll do this then slowly reduce the temp every couple of hours until I hit ~12C. I can't put it in yet though as I have an Extra Smooth Bitter in now. Then need to pump out something easy for a card night at the end of the month. I also want to do your toucan stout.... oh gee, so little time and so many choices!!
