Advice for draught recipe

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been going through this forum a bit, but couldn't find good answer for my issues.

Got these 2 cans cheap on clearance and would like to make use of them.

  • 3400 g 2 x Coopers Draught can + both yeasts
  • 625 g dextrose
  • 23 L volume
  • 5,5 %

Bitterness

(420 IBU x 2 = 840 IBU) ->  (840*1,7) / 23 L = 62 IBU?

Mainly im thinking if the IBU is a bit too much for this style or is my calculation even correct on assuming my final IBU?

Would you add anything or just use them separately?

Hi @coutai and welcome to the Forum.

Your IBU calculation is right.  62 IBU's is IPA territory, so maybe a bit high.  But the Draught yeast is an ale yeast, so you are not making a pub style clean lager that might not suit a high IBU.  I reckon it would be okay.  Just be ready for a strong tasting brew.

Hi,

Thanks for the confirmation and thoughts on the recipe, they help when you don't have many tries yet.

Made this to fermenter yesterday so let's see how it turns out.
