weggl
Muddy, seeing you are a local boy (Manly) and you seem to have quite a grasp on most brews, you may be able to answer my question? If I brew IPA with say 300g of Dex instead of 500 will it effect the taste? I would prefer the strength to be closer to 5% than 6%? If your not available maybe somebody else could answer. Thanks all. Also when I click on "Active topics I get a nothing???[joyful] Warren Warren
Muddy Waters
G'day Warren - If you do the IPA according to recipe on the can (IPA Can + 500g LDM + 300g Dex) you should end up with around 4%. My guesstimations would place it at around 5% if you upped the LDM to 1kg and added 300g of dex and mixed it to 22L. For a great beer I would highly recommend Paul's Motueka Slam IPA ( Although you'd have to order the hops from Craftbrewer in QLD as Dave doesn't stock them at this stage. I haven't really mucked around with the IPA once. I made it once to recipe (Tastes ok but turns out a light beer. Once to the Authentic IPA Recipe (Tastes good). More rcently I made it to PB2's Motueka Slam recipe (Bloody fantastic [love] ) I'm sure others will have more suggestions for you mate.

Muddy Waters
G'day Ollie [biggrin] The only local home brew shop is Dave's Home Brew at North Sydney. I tend to order my hops and malts from CraftBrewer in Brisbane as they have a bigger range than Dave at much better prices. Otherwise Big W at the Mall is pretty good for the basics.
