CDZ
Ok, home brew attempt #2 with the coopers beer kit. Coopers Dark Ale Brew Enhancer 1 / included yeast Temp: 18-19C, pitched around 21C A day after pitching, there was about 2-3" of foam up top, a week and a half later, it was a light bubble skim but my gravity was still around 22. It's 2.5 weeks later and it's still around 18-19. There are some bubbles left and some moisture on the lid in tiny bubbles. I have the feeling this batch isn't going to get to 1010...do I just dump it at this point or is there anything I can do? (stirring, adding anything, etc...) Thanks!! PB2
BE1 will normally give an FG around the 1012 to 1016 mark. Have a smell and a taste of a sample and if it seems okay, bottle into PETs. Achieving FG is not such a big deal if you bottle into PET, coz you can always release the gas if they become over-pressured.[biggrin]
CDZ
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I understand there's a higher change of infection the longer it sits but it seems 2-3 weeks is a bit on the long side right?
Matty A
It seems long for the fermentation but people leave brews in the fermenter for longer, some do it to even clear the beer up. Thanks,
PB2
CDZ, every brew that you and I make has spoilage organisms within: Is my brew infected Yes, the longer a brew is left in the FV the greater the chance of these organisms taking a hold of the brew - the good news - you can check it by having a smell and a taste [biggrin]
