Tythataussieguy
Hey guys I went down to Brew craft and got my new fermenter and they gave me a free can of Carlton Cold. Now this can has been on for two weeks and it has just stopped all together at 1.020 and has been stopped for about a week. I am also bottling in glass so I am worried it is too early. PB2
The SG sounds too high. However, it's difficult to give relevant advice on this one because I don't know the details of product. Can you give us more info?
Tythataussieguy
It was a beermakers Lager cold or something along those lines.
Greg
if its been fermenting at those temps i would say its done if its been going for 2 weeks, unless the yeast is dead. What sugars did you add? If you used simple sugars like dex, then you should be a lot lower than that. Bottle into PET if you can.....
Tythataussieguy
Yeah I am thinking my yeAst is dead. I used 1 kg of #15 I think.
PB2
What leads you to conclude that the yeast is dead? Do you know what is in #15? I recommend you take note of the actual ingredients used and method - type, qty, best before dates, temps, etc. Then if you have an issue, like a high SG, you will be able to check refer to your notes [biggrin]

Tricky
Before I knew any better, I used to drink a lot a Carlton Cold. As far as I can remember Foster's make their Cold with the following ingredients, in this order: 1. Water 2. Detergent (for the foam) 3. Food colouring (for the amber colour) 4. Alcohol (not sure where this comes from, as they don't seem to use any malted barley) Can anyone confirm this for me?
Kearnage
... and don't forget the synthetic 'tetrahops'!
GregT5
Not too sure about the water and food colouring being two separate ingredients...I think the "fluid" used contained the colouring!![crying]
PB2
I'm sure; at the least they would use water, malted barley and yeast.[wink]
Tricky
You may be right about the "Fluid" They do talk about 'recycling' things [lol]
