Pilsener question

Recommended Posts

Hi from Chicago.

This likely is a rehash, but couldn't find it anywhere. so ...

The pilsener kit includes a kilo of dextrose, while the can's "brewing tips" section recommends 300 grams. Clearly, there's a disconnect. Am I to assume that I'm the proud owner of an extra 700 grams of dextrose?

Possibly-related question: I'm falling short of my ideal head-retention standard. Any recommends?

As per usual, thanks in advance for any guidance and counsel; everyone has been both terribly kind and helpful in assisting us rookie brewers.

Guessing you had this delivered as a recipe pack??

1.7kg Pilsener beer Kit

500g Light Dry Malt

1kg Dextrose (this is the smallest pack we supply).

So yes, you can use 300g of dextrose for primary fermentation and keep the rest aside for other brews. [biggrin]

Check out the Brewing FAQs for info about head retention and other stuff.

I've put down my first real lager (Euro Lager)this weekend - my first brew in my new fermenting fridge.

Fwoar - now I understand what people mean when they talk about Rhino farts. It's ok when the brew fridge door is closed but its all on when you open the door!!![lol] [lol]

There are some questions that the boss does not allow me to answer. This is one of them:

paul.... is the yeast with the EURO A S23 ??

I can neither confirm nor deny blah, blah, blah...
