Mat
Hi everyone, What does it mean if froth comes out the airlock on my keg? Im just brewing the standard Lager with brew sugar. Is my brew stuffed, or can I wash it out and re fill it? Ive changed nothing from many other brews in the past. Thanks in advance for the help. PB2
Remove the lid and place a sheet of cling wrap over the opening of the fermenting vessel while you clean the lid and airlock. Replace the lid and airlock and leave to ferment as normal. Frothing is not a bad thing - have a look at the pics in some of the posts on the RIS thread - it is a sign of healthy yeast working hard. Strong frothing is more likely to happen with: ale yeast (the Original Series Lager contains an ale yeast sachet), higher ferment temps, higher gravity brews and darker brews. Fast Eddy
Happend to me as well in hot weather. I cleaned the airlock and let it all happen. Bottled it 18th March It's taken 2 months for it to come good, I expect it will get even better as the weeks go on. I'll let you know.
