AshO
I love Dark Ale and thought I would experiment with the recipe, it turned out fantastic. 1 x can Coopers Dark Ale 1/2kg of light malt (liquid) 1kg of honey Experiemnt with the types of honey. I used Yellowbox. Fantastic flavour (only slight aftertaste of honey) with a massive 7.5% alc.[devil]
Trusty1
I have put down a Coopers Original Real Ale kit with a LHBS Dark Brew Booster, which comprises 600gms each of dark dry malt and Dextrose and 200gms of Maltodextrin with about 250gms of capilano honey (I think it is just called Pure Australian Honey - the yellowbox is too strong for the Mrs) and used recultured Chimay Blue yeast, which was a bit slow so I added the kit yeast and it has taken off. I made it to 19L expecting a Krazy Krausen, and will add extra 3-4L now it has died down. bubbling along at around the 22oC mark. I am expecting this to be similar to, but darker than, the [kissing]Irish Ale[kissing] I brewed ultra successfully earlier this year.
Matty A
I used (after i tasted a brew) that they used 500g of bimble box honey in it, they used it as it is a light tasting honey and the beer has the mellowest flavour of honey in it.
