SunyJim
So when I named by brewery I called it "Coal Basement Brewery" so in keeping with basement names this is my "Boiler Room IPA" 1 Can Thomas Coopers IPA extract, 750g Light Dry Malt (LDM) powder, 300g Dextrose. Fill fermenter to 23 Liters, Starting Gravity was 1040 Pitch Kit yeast. - My basement is a stable 20C so stayed at that temperature for the entire process Wait two weeks for fermentation to be complete. Dry hop 57 grams (2oz) Cascade pellets (I just throw the pellets in loose) Leave at least 5 days Add gelatin finings, I use Knox Gelatin as per packet instructions, 5 days for the beer to clear. Final gravity 1011 Bottle, with 2 Coopers sugar pills for 750ml bottles wait 2 weeks and test beer. Taste result. WOW, creamy tasting, great Hop smell, nice and clear in the glass, almost nothing at the bottom of the bottles. Even after just two weeks aging nice dense head on the beer. Doesn't last, dissipates but smells great. Works out to 4.39% Alcohol (+ 0.5% for bottle carbonation?) This one's a keeper will be doing this again. PB2
Nice one, SunyJim - over 50g of Cascade is an excellent dose! [biggrin]
