McFrankel
I have a real no frill lager can given to me (thanks Grandad last of the big spenders) and want to know if it is possible to use it as a base to make a mexican style beer? I was thinking so far: Lager can BE 2 Blonde Malt Saf lager yeast Now I was wondering if there was a particular hops to use? Cheers [innocent]
AndrewC5
hey mate, the thing that makes the ceverza taste like a mexican beer is the malt and its light on the bitterness. Doing a quick bit of research i found that 'tetra' hops are apperntly used. But i would go with saaz or even tettnanger. Go with the hops maybe about 15g for 10min boil, and for a light body go with BE1, to add less body to it. Use a nice clean lager yeast and steady temps. KBH
Galena hops are supposedly used in Corona, though I've had trouble finding it.
PB2
Low in colour, bitterness, flavour but full strength alcohol and reasonable residual carbohydrate (about 1008). If this is what you are looking for, Mark, just the Lager kit and the BE2 will give a closer approximation.
