IAN
I have noticed that Coopers does not mention adding finings (beer clearing agent) after or at the end of fermenting. I was told that it help drop the dead yeast out of the brew and made the taste crisper? I have no idea what is in it or if it does anything can you please help? Wort
I have never used finings but I'm about to try on a Crown Lager clone I've been brewing for a few weeks. Not much help I know but my advice is give them a go you've got nothing to lose, put them into the fementer 3 or 4 days before your going to bottle. Good luck to both of us :)
PB2
Using Coopers Concentrate - I have put down identical brews, added finings (most retail finings is gelatine) to one and nothing to the other... they ended up with identical levels of haze (clarity). I think that finings may help when using a low flocculating yeast (when your final goal is bright beer) or when using grains or other more complex adjuncts. The only way to know is to try it for yourself. Note that the more often the brew is interfered with the more chance of spoilage.
