Guest
Hi guys. I've just been doing a bit of reading on grain substitutes for liquid malt extracts & what compositions make up certain LME's. The info I just read stated that liquid amber malt is comprised of approx. 90-95% base malt, approx. 5% crystal malt, & approx. 3% chocolate or black malt. Does this sound about right? A recipe of Canadian Eh!L's that I am about to brew calls for 566gms of Amber LME. Using a 75% mash efficiency, would the following quantities create a comparable amount of Amber malt? Base malt 690gms Crystal malt 40gms Chocolate malt 20gms Are my calculations close? All advice welcomed. Anthony.
Canadian Eh!L
Lusty, Like I said in the other thread. Try Light LME + 100g Crystal 40L or just the LME, DME. As I said before. It's a simple recipe. Don't over complicate it. This recipe is way more about the hops blend along with the Real can and Oak chips. The LME is the least important part of the recipe. It`s just filler to round out the balance and body. Try not to stray too far from the recipe.
