Lotm
Hey folks, Have been dry hopping an Amber Ale in a Secondary FV using a Chux for about a week when I decided to cold condition it (dropped it to about 3-4\xb0C). Thought I'd check on it and the hop bag has plummeted into the dark depths. Will this affect bottling? If so, what options are there regarding a salvage operation? Guest
Oh No!! looks like you will have to bob for it like apples [lol] Relax, it'll be fine, leave it, bottle as normal. Yob
Guest
Hi Lotm. As long as the hop bag hasn't landed on the tap entry it won't create any problems. The speed at which the beer is drawn through the tap should not be enough to dislodge the bag from the bottom of the FV. Personally I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case scenario, during bottling it blocks the inlet to the tap, have some Starsan (or something similar) handy to sanitise a long enough implement that can reach & retrieve the hop bag. Edit: Forget what I said, I like Yob's idea! [lol] Anthony.
Lotm
Thanks chaps. Bobbing for hop bags... Hmmm. Sounds like it's straight out of the Brewer's Party Game Handbook Vol. 1.[lol]
