SEAHOUND
G'Day Fellow Brewers, I was getting my bottles prepped today for an arvo of drinking and bottling when I noticed that my Porter was still bubbling at the airlock. It has been down 18 days, I used safale 04 yeast, at a temp of 18-19 deg, it started at 1042 and I last measured 3 days ago and it was 1013, so I assumed another 3 days would be about perfect. Will another few days in the fermenter be an issue?
Canadian Eh!L
Hey Hound, Ignore the bubbling airlock! The porter will be done after two consistent SG readings. It sounds like it is more than likely done though it wouldn't hurt to leave it a few more days.

Guest
The porter will be done after two consistent SG readings at an SG in the expected terminal gravity range Corrected. This bit of information is often left out and can lead to Bottle bombs. If the yeast has stalled (for whatever reason, and S-04 is often guilty of this) and then you botle it and add more sugar, the bottling can often get them going again and guess what happens then? [ninja] *ed 1013 is within the expected terminal gravity range for a standard type brew though [cool] (still a tad high but not too much that would concern me. Canadian Eh!L
Agreed, Sir Yob. Two SG reading within the expected range.[rightful]
