Still Squishy
The LHBS has a keg of brown ale that has been sitting in a fridge for 18 months (and being that his beer knowledge is pretty much what i have taught him after learning from all you guys i thought i'd ask the question) He would like to drink it but hasn't got a gas bottle any more so is it possible to either bottle and secondary ferment or force carb (Renting my gas bottle) then bottle??? Guest
If it isn't carbed then just bulk prime and bottle it as you would normally (syphon or gas to push it out). Alternatively you can carb it up in the keg and use a CPBF to bottle it.
Still Squishy
Bill, It isn't carbed at the moment but it has been force carbed in the past.... Will it make a difference??
Guest
Yeah, you should use a CPBF otherwise it will be too frothy to control. Of course that is provided the keg has kept pressure of course. Nevertheless, you'd still be able to get some out whilst under the current pressure. Edit: sorry I just reread your post. You say it isn't carbed but it was at one stage? Does that mean the keg is leaking pressure somewhere?
Guest
carbing the keg will be the go, Id be concerned if it had not been filtered as the yeast after 18 months is likely mostly dead.. if there is still yeast in there I be a little cautious
