PeterB44 Posted April 19, 2012 Share Posted April 19, 2012 how long should I leave the hydometer in the sample to determine the sg. when i first put it in this is after 6 days ist around 1.14 but on leaving it for about 5 mins it changes to 1.3 . do you take the reading just after put in to the test sample or wait a while. peter Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Posted April 19, 2012 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Hey peter welcome to the forum to get an accurate reading the first sample you pull in tube must be tipped out. This is because a bit of trube the stuff sitting on bottom usually affects the reading. 3/4 fill the tube the second time and wait 10 mins os so tapping the side occasionaly to get rid of the bubbles they affect the reading also.
