Cracked / Uncracked Specialty Grain

Howdy, just halfway through fermenting BillK's Fruitier Salad and realised the crystal grain used was uncracked. Thought it was cracked till I went to buy more and the nice lady offered to grind it for me. How much will this affect it, just a milder taste right?

Using uncracked gain would do virtually nothing [crying]

 

Jimmy is correct, the husks need to be cracked to gain access to the starches.

 

As to the effect of the taste it will not taste as the expected recipe. It will be similar but not the same as there will be no Caramel/Toffee flavor coming through. Also you will find less head retention and the aroma will slightly be different.
