BarryL5
Hi all, I'm on my 7th brew now, so decided to do something with a higher alcohol content. I've used: Coopers IPA can 1kg LDM 1kg BE1 2 sachets of yeast (the one supplied plus one from a sparkling ale kit) Filled to 20L From what I have read, BE1 is 60% LDM, 40% Dex. I put it all into the "Kit & Extract Beer Designer" spreadsheet and it estimated 7% alc, OG: 1063 and FG: 1013. It's been in the fermenter for 10 days between 20 and 23 degrees. OG was 1062 current gravity reads 1020, and has been there for the last 5 or more days. Is it ready to bottle? or has something gone wrong? Guest
I think you will find BE1 is 60% dextrose and 40% maltodextrin the 40% doesnt ferment so might be lookin more around 5.8 6% put on ya glasses
*****
Hi all, From what I have read, BE1 is 60% LDM, 40% Dex. I put it all into the "Kit & Extract Beer Designer" spreadsheet and it estimated 7% alc, OG: 1063 and FG: 1013. G'day Barry I reckon its ready. I've always thought that BE1 was 60% Dex and 40% Malto. When I put these in I get OG = 1.055 and FG = 1.015, 5.6%.
BarryL5
Thanks for the input, Ill put on my beer goggles next time. The numbers still don't add up for me, but considering the gravity has not changed for almost a week, I'll get some plastic to bottle it into. Just in case....
