Diesel66
I'm fairly new to brewing and I want to attempt the Cooper's vintage 2023 ale recipe. The recipe asks for HBC 638 Hops, what is HBC 638 hops? (Never heard of them) and where can I get them? TIA

"HBC 638 is an experimental hop variety from the Hop Breeding Company, which is a joint venture between John I. Haas and Yakima Chief Ranches." https://yakimavalleyhops.com/products/hbc-638-hops It mentions similarities to Centennial, so if you cant find it I'm guessing that could be your substitute.
iBooz2
I will think you will find all new breeds of hops start out as an experimental number such as HBC638 and then when proven commercially viable the variety is given a "marketing name". If you look up the history of some of the recent newfangled varieties, you will see what I mean.
