Fermenting after the gravity is the same for 24 hours.

No it wont hurt it at all Alex - It'll most probably help your beer.


A good rule of thumb when brewing is to leave your beer in the fermentor for 2 weeks. The first week allows for fermentation and the second week allows the yeast to clear up any off flavours and for the beer to clear. Lagers may need even longer.
