Biermoasta
So there's a fair bit of information about re-culturing the yeast from Coopers beers. But I'm wondering, can I harvest yeast from my own bottles of home brewed beer? I assume I would be able to, same principles apply, but I guess you would have to be more careful as there might be a higher chance of infection. Biermoasta
Thanks Muddy [biggrin] Do you know how long after bottling the yeast would still be viable?
CraigsALE
I would say about 186 years if you stored it at the bottom of the ocean. See historical story. http://www.nytimes.com/1991/11/28/business/small-british-brewers-make-a-dent.html Seriously though as long as you got a few living cells left essentially you could keep multiplying them until you had enough to get ready for a pitching. One turns into many once you feed them up.
