BrendanS8
Hi all, i've bought 2 packets of saflager S-23 for the next brew, first time i,ve strayed from the packets attached to the extract tins, but i've noticed a date stamped on the bottom of the packets, one is 06 2011 VOBE and the other 07 2010 LUBE. I'm assumming this is a best before date. Will they be ok to use or should i return them?
PB2
The date on this yeast is usually an expiry date. They may be okay if they have been stored in the fridge or freezer. You could go to the trouble of stepping the yeast up in a 500ml to 1 litre mini-brew (dissolve light dry malt at the rate of 1g to 10ml of water). If that sounds too difficult, perhaps you should buy some fresh yeast.
