Best Extra Stout

Oldbloke

Recommended Posts

@Tilpants It is delicious. Early on,  as I have noticed with a few stouts, the individual flavours are more noticeable. i.e. less blended. However, the longer the bottle conditioning goes on the more the flavours integrate and smooth together to a delicious slightly roasty deep caramel stout flavour. In taste tests my neighbor and I have done on five of our similar stouts, at different stages of their bottle conditioning, we have found that noticeable changes in flavours and their complexity and smoothness continue to be occur (improving) up to about four months in the bottle. After that it probably improves a little, but is a lot less noticeable. After a month or so stored at about 20deg after bottling, I like to put them in a box/cupboard somewhere about the same temp' for another few months. You can drink them anytime, however this is what I have found works best for me.
