Matty H
Gday guys I planted a columbus hop rhizom in winter and now shes producing flowers probly have about 30-40 on the plant and i wanna do a brew with them as soon as there ready. Have any of you guys ever used them before? I have no idea what to expect so any input would be fantastic. This will be my first home grown hops so i'm very exited!![biggrin] I've also got a fuggles plant but it struggles in this climate after 2 years it never flowered[crying]
PB2
Matt, not sure where you are located?? However, if your fuggles are struggling, I would imagine that your columbus are not likely to throw the typical varietal character. I reckon you have enough flowers to dry hop a pale ale style brew. Matty H
I'm in bunbury wich is 200km south of perth i think the fuggles may be in a bad spot they dont get any sun till 10:30am. I'm gonna move them somewhere else when they die back. I'll dry hop a pale ale and let ya know if they give any flavour and aroma. I here its an earthy citrus flavour so if it comes up as a standard pale ale i'll know my plant has failed cheers Mat
