EvanS1
Hi guys, Can anyone recommend a recipe for the pilsener kit? It's the first time it's appeared in my local HB shop following a change of ownership. Cheers...
Greg
The pilsner is a nice drop but needs extra Saaz hops. Try the kit, 500g of LDM and 500 dex or use BE2. 20-25g of Saaz @ 5 mins should work out lovely. Ferment around 14 degrees or less. If you cant do that, do a 'bastard' lager and use US-05 and ferment at 16-18 degrees. Will turn out nice.
EvanS1
Cheers greg, will give it a go, it's currently sunny and 10 degrees outside (at lunchtime) so shouldn't have any problems keeping the temp at 12 or 13 in the garage. Perfect time of year for a first crack at lagering over here...

briano2
i have tettnang hop which is meant to be similar and pils kit. think i will follow this recipe...its cool enough here in Ireland. Is best to start ferment at 18ish then move after 2-3 days to cooler eg 5-10 c. as room in house site at 18c and garage varies 5-10) so plan to leave in room then garage ? PB2
If you are planning to only use the sachet of yeast supplied abd you have reasonable temp' control, start at 22C-24C for the first 12 to 24hrs then allow the brew to drop down to 12C-15C.
