Stewie Rivers
Hi fellow homebrewers. I have the above in the tub and have just tested the SG at 1012. I will check again tomorrow for second SG reading. It has been brewing for about 4 weeks and still bubbles occasionaly through the airlock. I was surprised to find the brew is very cloudy and wondered if that is the way it finishes? all my other brews have been really clear. Tastes ok and no offensive smells. Slurtis Staggersalot
Yup it's a cloudy beer. 1012 is right around where mine finished too. If you get the same reading again bottle it and forget about it for at least a month, that's when mine really started to taste good [ninja]
Stewie Rivers
Thanks for that Slurtis. Will bottle and start something else. Stewie
Slurtis Staggersalot
No Problem Stewie [biggrin] I might add that people recommend rolling the SA before you open and pour... I just pour fast enough to make the bottle glug a bit. Try pouring it nice and easy first and then try clouding it up a bit, there is a marked difference in flavor. What are you going to put down next?
Stewie Rivers
Gday Slurtis. A fairly standard lager as follows. 1 Can Coopers Lager 750gm LDME 250gm Dry Corn Syrup 15gm Cascade Hops Yeast from the kit Hope it turns out ok. Slurtis Staggersalot
Sounds like a decent drop, I've only made one Lager and I have to say that I am an ale man. Luckily my uncle is a Budweiser drinker and he loved my Coopers Lager. I got a bit of work out of him for it, and my real ale was safe [biggrin]
PB2
As confusing as this may sound, Coopers Original Series Lager is an ale - it comes with an ale yeast, as do all the original series beer kits [biggrin]
Stewie Rivers
Slurtis after all your hard work brewing you have to get payment for it. I`m glad you said that about the yeast Paul cause I was a bit worried about temps re fermenting if it was a lager yeast although it is still quite mild up here. Should have no trouble at 20/25C. Stewie Rivers
With the lager what difference would it make if I use 1KG of LDME instead of 750gms?
