Extra Strong Vintage Ale - Questions

Hi all,

I have a couple of quick ones about 3 lonely boxes of Vintage Ale which have been gathering dust in my cupboard since my days working in a pub many years ago...

1. I want to be able to check what year they are, but don't want to wreck the cartons to get in and look at the bottles. They have the following serial numbers written on them:

- 28298.10.07

- 266.99 08:38

- 14:24 202.00

My guess is that I am sitting on a box each of the '98, '99 and '00 Vintage Ales, am I close?

2. Are these babies still drinkable?

3. I'll probably struggle to get through them all, is there still a market out there for these bad boys?

Yep, bottled on the 282nd day of '98, 266th day of '99 and 202nd day of 2000.

If they've been cellared in cool conditions, they may be okay.

The '98 is a bright beer while the '99 and 2002 are bottle conditioned.

Expect them to taste more like sherry than beer.

As for re-sale value, you will get what somebody is prepared to pay. If it were me, I would not sell them...
